STUDIO SALE
As my previous posts have already explained, Tuesday April 10th I was simultaneously accepted to the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture and laid off from my job at the auction house where I have been working for the past six years. Despite this sudden lapse in income I know that a summer at Skowhegan isn’t something I can pass up. I am still trying to raise funds and I am offering these ten works on panels at the low price of $150 in the hopes of selling them all to finance travel, materials, and moving expenses. I may post some other works (prints etc.) throughout the week depending on how this goes. Also, if there is anything else of mine that you have been interested in (even if you’re not seeing it here) DM me because now would be an excellent time to get it.

This is the last week to see @jes_cannon and I’s exhibition Another Ground @not.gallery . Gallery hours are Wednesday from 6-8 and Saturday from 12-6. This is one of mine, it’s called “Lens For The Trace,” acrylic, oil, and colored pencil on 18 x 24” wooden panel.

A camera obscura is an optical phenomenon made when a pinhole projects the light from outside the room into the room as an image. The image is reversed and inverted, so mirrors can be used to correct it. If you really want to learn about the technology and history of a camera obscura, here’s the Wiki link. But basically, the Giant Camera in San Francisco uses a camera obscura to project an image of the rocks just offshore into the dark room and uses mirrors and a convex canvas to correct the image for you to see.
